In June 2024, IDEAS Ghana conducted sensitization programs on preventing and countering violent extremism (CVE) in the Windenaba, Sapeliga, and Kpalsoko communities in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region in Ghana. This initiative was prompted by reports from these communities regarding conflicts between Fulani herdsmen and indigenous residents and fear of intrusion from neighboring countries. Through this sensitization effort, IDEAS Ghana reached out to over 200 individuals, comprising approximately 70% women and youth aged 25-40, and aims to expand its coverage in the district and beyond as part of its ongoing activities for fostering social cohesion for development.
